This was my first ever visit to Ma Bakers during the Bike and Brew event, and all I can say is how incredibly welcoming and friendly everyone was.
There’s a small car park to the side, but there also seemed to be plenty of other cafés nearby and additional parking options opposite and just down the road so parking isn’t an issue. A lot of bikers were parked outside, and I spent a good 15 minutes just admiring the bikes before even going in.
It’s always a bit intimidating going somewhere new, especially solo. When I walked in, the place was packed—but the guy behind the counter immediately called out, “Welcome!” and asked if he could get me anything. I ordered a coffee and a bacon sandwich. He asked if I’d been there before, and I must’ve had the sheepish look of a first-timer, because he knew right away. He was really friendly asked if I was doing the event, stamped my passport, and even gave me advice on where to head next. Since it was my first visit, he also handed me a Ma Bakers sticker!
Service was fast, the food was decent, and prices were reasonable. Another staff member came over to check if everything was okay and, once again, made me feel genuinely welcome.
Of course, no honest review is complete without a few small niggles. The men’s toilet is quite small—technically space for three, but realistically comfortable for just one person at a time. And given how busy the place gets, it can be a bit tricky to find a seat. But honestly, these are minor things in what was otherwise a fantastic experience.
I left with a new plan for the day and the feeling that this really is the biker-focused spot to be. I was told that they host evening events too, and some of the neighbouring cafés do the same.
I absolutely love this place and will definitely be coming back.
